IJM Cebu just had their annual staff retreat over the past few days at the beautiful Alegra resort in Sogod, Cebu. On Friday night, we had enjoyed dinner and a cultural show down on the beach, sitting just a few feet away from the ocean. So beautiful. I was sitting at my table talking to a few of my co-workers when I felt something small on my head. Thinking it was just a leave or twig or something, I reached up to brush it off when my hand encountered something quite large... and moving... and alive... it was a GECKO!
(note: this isn't the actual culprit, but is being used for illustrative purposes!)I quickly brushed him off my head and onto the sand. I don't even know how he got on my head in the first place. We weren't even sitting under a tree. He would have had to jump about three feet from the nearest tree branch and land on my head. Now that's talent!
Then, about 15 minutes later, I'm waiting in the buffet line to get some food when I felt something on my left shoulder. I looked down to find two tiny gecko eye staring back at me. I again, let out a little shriek and brushed the little guy onto the sand. I just didn't want him to climb into my shirt. Don't get me wrong, I usually don't mind geckos at all. Which is probably a good thing because they are everywhere. I will see at least 10 a day inside our house and even inside my room. They are welcome to hang out at the house as long as they aren't crawling on me!
