Final Goodbyes and More Travelling Adventures
Hello from Cebu, Philippines! After more than 16 hours of flying, I arrived in Cebu late last night as scheduled... But of course, nothing can go completely smooth! When I checked my bags at LAX, I thought that it was odd that the conveyor belts behind the ticket people weren't moving and that they were just piling up bags behind them. But I was able to check in sucessfully. After a tearful goodbye to my family, I was sitting at my gate waiting to board and was notified that my flight from LAX to Seoul had been delayed to a power outage at LAX baggage area. Of course that would happen! But it was only delayed 1/2 an hour. Since I had a 2 hr and 15 minute layover in Seoul, I wasn't worried. Then they boarded the plane and proceded to delay and delay and delay. We didn't take off for another 1.5 hours (for a total of 2 hours behind schedule). At this point, I was worried that I would miss my 7:15pm connecting flight from Seoul to Cebu since we would be landing in Seoul at 7:05pm. Thankfully, I was informed that my 7:15 flight had been delayed to 8:20. Whew! I decided it would be best for me to head straight to the gate regardless... As I approached the gate at 7:20, I saw that the plane had already been completely boarded and they were making a final call. I ran up and was the last person to board. Praise the Lord! Who knew when the next available flight from Seoul to Cebu would have been! But of course, they weren't able to get my bags on that plane, but they were able to get them on another plane which landed 50 minutes later. So, I made it on time and with all my bags! A miracle! Amy (the girl I will be replacing at IJM) was waiting for me and had a car ready to take me to my temporary home. It was pretty dark outside, so I wasn't able to see much on the way back. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to sleep last night given the 16 hour time difference. So I thought I would write a quick post of my recent travelling adventures! Today is my first day at IJM. I can't wait to meet everyone!
